Hello again from Burgess Towers.
Welcome to August’s newsletter. I hope you’ve had a great summer (so far!) |
The Price We Pay
Several people have been asking when The Price We Pay will be available as an audiobook. Well, the wait is over (almost).
The work is done, including a brilliant narration by Perdita Lawton and production by Lee Beddow at AbbeySound Audio. Audible is doing its mysterious quality review. From experience, this can take hours or weeks, but I’m guessing it will be live in the first week of September. Watch this space. Actually, it would be more productive to watch Audible, etc. But you take my point.
That reminds me of a quote from the great American comedian Rich Hall.
‘Good things come to those who wait. S**t comes a lot quicker.’
DI Carrie Tyler
What about the second Carrie Tyler book you promised us? I hear you cry. Well, the latest rewrite is out for words of wisdom from ‘she of the red pen’. It has been a long process so far, with many changes. I’m thinking of changing the title to ‘Trigger’s Broom’. The character in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ claims to have had the same broom for 20 years. In that time, it’s had 17 new heads and 14 new handles. It’s the same story I started with, just with a new start, new middle, and new end. Oh, and a possible new title. Other than that, I was spot-on first time. Still, good things…
What have I been reading?
While you’re waiting for me to deliver a finished Carrie Tyler story, my recommendation for the month is The Puppet Show by MW Craven, a dark police procedural set in Cumbria.
‘Gritty tales told with empathathy and drama…’
